I am an accomplished risk manager and quality improvement analyst with extensive experience developing and implementing policies in the wider medical realm, specifically within the American Indian tribal health care system. Proficient in determining an organization’s “risk appetite,” I am especially skilled at analyzing standard operating protocol and procedures and helping organizations establish their emergency preparedness while taking a hard look at programs and facilities and developing a plan to improve the overall quality of care including:

  • Better recruitment and retention of qualified, dependable staff including doctors;
  • Better planning for facility improvements and equipment purchases; and
  • Better patient satisfaction and ultimately, better health care outcomes for the community.

I started my career in the greater medical industry as a medic for the United States Air Force. After serving my time on active duty, I went to work for the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, then eventually landed in eastern Oregon as the clinic director, and then risk manager and quality improvement officer for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Reservation. During my tenure, I worked on a number of large-scale projects including the analytics of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution while managing the credentialing and privileging of Yellowhawk Health Care Clinic providers. Additionally, I wrote and monitored the clinic’s ongoing adherence to company policies and procedures while ensuring it operated within strict state and federal regulations.

I am a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management and hold a number of professional certifications including: LEAN training and ALICE training; Public Health Accreditation; AAAHC Accreditation; OSHA compliance; FEMA ICS 100, 200,300, 700; and participated in the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Customer Service Training with the U.S. Department of Defense.
